Hi. Do adults ever have grommets inserted, and for what reason? Thank you.

Dear Katie

For similar problems than children, this is just more uncommon in adults.
1. Otitis Media with Effusion persisting for longer than 3 months.
2. Recurrent bouts of Acute Otitis Media
3. Acute Otitis Media not responding to conservative management

If the patient can hear, and there is no pain, one can generally wait a bit longer in adults to decide, as the hearing has been established.
