Dear Graham
While it is praiseworthy and an excellent idea to change to a low-fat diet for general healthy and well-being, there is no change in the production of gall or bile when the gallbladder is removed. The liver continues to produce gall or bile as before the op and this bile is secreted directly into the digestive tract instead of being stored in the gallbladder. In the digestive tract the bile continues to perform its physiological functions. For a low-fat diet high-fibre diet (click on 'Diet' at the top of this page, 'Weight loss', ‘Balanced diet' and then on 'Slimming Diet').
Best regards
