EXERCISE AND PREGNANCY

Hi Doc!!

I'm planning to have baby this year and also like to join the gym,is joining the gym a right move or must i wait until i give birth?

If you start a very gradual exercise programme, it should be fine - i.e nothing too high intensity or strenous, however, make sure that the instructor knows that you plan to fall pregnant, so that your routines can worked out accordingly.

If you live in Cape Town, give the Sports Science Institute a call on 021 659 5647, since they run some exercise classes for pregnant women - you may be interested.
