Excercise while injured

Are/is there any excercise that can be done to maintain a reasonable level of fitness while waiting for a cracked rib to heal. the injusry is 5 days old now and it' s the lower left rib that has a crack as a result of a cycle accident.

Ribs are tough, because it makes breathing difficult. So you can do pretty much anything below the level at which you start to feel pain. Running might be difficult because the impact will cause a bit of pain, at least at first. However, you might be able to get away with it after a little while. Cycling could work, but at a much lower intensity. Swimming offers minimal impact, but again, it depends on the breathing.

Bottom line is that you have to try out a few things and see what causes pain, and then find the point at which you can train without pain.
