epidural

Hi,

What exactly is an epidural? All my preggie mags refer to it for pain relief, but none of them say what it really is, and what is really does?

An epidural is an injection into the spine to block all the nerves from your waist downwards. You thus can feel no pain in your lower body. Apparently the most wonderful invention fo childbirth.
