dysentery

My brother-in-law has been diagnosed with dysentery. What is it? Is it infectious and what is the treatment? He is an alcoholic who lives by himself and does not lead a healthy lifestyle at all. He is 42yrs old and is not a healthy person overall. He hardly eats as he prefers to spend what little money he has on cheap wine. Any advice

Dear TG
Dysentery is an infectious diarrhoea. It needs to be treated with antibiotics or Flagyl.
