Our expert says:
Dried fruit are excellent foods being rich in dietary fibre, iron, beta-carotene, vitamins and minerals, but they are high in energy (because they are dried they are a very concentrated form of food) - about 1000 kJ/100g. Thus if you are not trying to lose weight, then you can eat dried fruit in relatively large quantities. If you find that eating a lot of dried fruit causes diarrhoea, then you will have to reduce your intake - dried fruits have laxative properties.
