Doula - question for gynae

Hi There -
I just want to know if you recommend the services of a doula for first time mothers and if it would be beneficial to the gynae as well as to the parents to be and the nursing staff to have a doula present or if they would (for lack of a better word) get under your feet during the birth.

Thanks

It is useful to have someone present. Often this is the partner but, if this is not possible, a doula is helpful.

Best wishes
