Hi Retha

I strongly suggest you have your male dog castrated if he has not yet been done. This should aid with your problem. You need to clean the area with a non-amonia based product and wipe it off with an alcohol based product ie metholated spirits. Also do not reprimand him, it could make him more nervous and he will then do it more. Also do not clean the area infront of him. He is marking his territory. If you are not able to solve this with the castration, then you should get and accredited animal behaviourist to assist you with your problem.
You can look on this website and find someone in your area.

Kind regards

C'mon, Lissa - you make it sound like every male dog pees on everything, non-stop. If that were so, nobody would ever want to own one....

It's basically either a training or a dominance/territorial issue, and the solution is to get involved, get busy, and make him understand that you are NOT PLEASED when he does this - in order to get the message across you have to be there when he does it, so you can reprimand him in no uncertain terms. If you're not around to supervise, then he must be confined to an area where lifting his leg isn't a problem - eg outside.

Neutering will help but only to a certain extent, and only after a while - it isn't a failsafe, instant solution.

Make sure the Domestos doesn't have ammonia in it. If it does, use a different cleaning agent. The sprays do work to a certain extent, but it's quite possible to teach the dog his manners without having to resort to them. It takes some energy and commitment but it can be done!

Its a natural thing for male dogs to lift there legs against anything and everything. there isnt alot that can be done to stop him doing this. and i wouldnt suggest using spray etc. we have a male dashaund who marks everything., no matter what, a bed on the floor, a piece of paper,. most veterinarians will advice you to get him neutered. We wikll be doing this in the future.. it really does help alot, and stop the problem. our male lab has stopped marking everywhere ones we got him fixed.
hope this helps!
