doc plse answer 639 weight loss and infe

hi doc

i need to know if losing a lot of weight can result in infertility i.e. non ovulation? i lost 17 kgs in 4 months and now battle to conceive as i dont ovulate. is this related? should i stop dieting in order to ovulate and conceive? thank you

Hi Marlize,

FIrstly congrats on your weight loss. How the heck did you manage 17kg in 4 months.

Also as far as i am aware that women who loose a lot of weight do have problems with their periods but this usually settles once the weight loss stabilises.

Its like leaving the pill & your body needs time to re-adjust itself - with weight loss its the same.
