Do dried mangoes have a lower GI than fresh mangoes?

I have two questions, that are totally unrelated:

(1) Do dried mangoes have a lower GI than fresh mangoes?

(2) Will vegetarian sausages (which are high in SOYA) help to prevent gynaecological cancer and relieve the symptoms of the menopause?

Dear Annabelle

According to 'The SA Glycemic Index Guide' fresh and dried mangoes are both low GI.

These is some indication that products which are rich in soya or soya extracts can assist with the symptoms of the menopause and prevent certain type of cancer. However, you need to check the FAT content of those sausages, to make sure that the benefits of the soya are not counteracted by a high fat content which is linked to cancer again. Also keep in mind that the American Dietetic Association issued a warning a number of years ago that warned women with breast cancer or a history of breast cancer NOT to use soya supplements or products (in excess) because it is feared that the phyto-oestrogens in soya may have the same negative effect on breast cancer as oestrogen.
