Dietician VS nutritionist

Hi, Doc

I know all the credentials a registered dietitian has to get to obtain his/her degree.

But was does a nutritionist do exactly? Their field of expertise?

Thank you!

Dear Confused
Nutritionists can either be individuals who have studied dietetics and not done a year of hospital training or those who have studied other directions (e.g. medicine, biochemistry, etc) and are now concentrating on nutrition in their specific fields. Nowadays nutritionists are also registering with a professional board. Generally speaking nutritionists would perhaps tend to work in fields such as community nutrition, education, research, etc. For example some of the leading nutritionists in the world first qualified as medical drs or specialists and now work in the field of nutrition in organisations like UNICEF and the WHO.
