Our expert says:
It is a pity that you did not mention how much you weigh at the moment so that I can work out your BMI to see if you need to eat a normal diet or a slimming diet. If you are not overweight you can eat a normal diet that contains all the food groups - plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, whole and unprocessed grains and cereals, lean meat, fish 3-4 times a week, 4 eggs per week, legumes, fat-free milk and dairy products like yoghurt and cottage cheese, and small quantities of 'good' fats like mono- or polyunsaturated margarine or oils such as olive oil (about 15 ml a day). If you require information about diets for sportsmen and women in view of your training programmes, click on 'Fitness' at the top of this page and then on 'Nutrition' and read the articles on 'Diets for sportsmen and women', esp the ones on carbohydrates and protein.
