De-tox - is this some sort of diet?

A colleague claimed to have lost 3-4kg in 1 week while on this detox programme. All she eats is veg soup, fruit, banana's & skimmed milk and once a week she eats 500g steak & tomatos. Is this advisable - if so could you recommend a programme....

Dear Jam
There is no harm in eating very little to detox for 1-2 days, BUT in the long run such a diet is counterproductive because it can lead to deficiencies, and rebound weight gain once you stop eating a semi-starvation diet. Click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'Slimming Diet' for a copy of a low-fat, high-fibre diet - use the diet plus exercise to lose weight and keep it off.
