Dating doctors

Hello

What is the general consensus around doctors/ specialists dating their patients. Is this allowed? Or is there an ethical issue?

Dear Scarlett
It is not a good idea to treat your own family or friends as you can't be objective in your evaluation. Sure a doctor can date a patient but then should not treat that person any more as a patient but refer her/him to a colleague for medical treatment. It is unethical for a doctor to flirt with or make advances at a patient during a consultation (and the other way round.)

The information provided does not constitute a diagnosis of your condition. You should consult a medical practitioner or other appropriate health care professional for a physical exmanication, diagnosis and formal advice.
