I play drums and often use earplugs. For a while now i have experienced a crunching-type sound in my ear (difficult to explain) if i hear a slightly loud noise.
do you perhaps know what this could be?

Dear Geoff
Noises in the ear can be caused by damage to the small hearing organs inside the ear - please go for a hearing test. If there is hearing loss you need to do something about it NOW as it is irreversible.
