A lack of various minerals which are called electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium) can cause cramps. If your diet is deficient in calcium and is not varied, then it may help to take a calcium and magnesium supplement (ask your chemist as there are many). Sodium which is found in table salt should not be a problem because most people eat more salt than necessary. Potassium should also not be a problem because it is found in most foods. Stock up on vegetables, fruit, wholegrains and legumes to boost your potassium intake.
