Cost of Birth

A friend of ours just had a baby and said that they went to a government hospital and saved themselves R15 000 compared to a private hospital.

Can this be true, if so, how much does the birth of a baby cost at a government hospital?

The charges at a government hospital depend on your salary and whether or not you are on medical aid. There is a sliding scale related to this.

Yes that is true cost for a private hospital start from R 12 000.00.
A friend of mine went to a government hospital and didnt pay anything, but she had the baby at 2 and had to leave by 6 so there was no staying over and been looked after. Im sure it all depends on the baby and how fast you recover.
