Our expert says:
There is no substantiation to prolonges pill usage ans increased risk of infertility. to the contrary, sometimes it is more beneficial to use the contraceptive pill to improve fertility especially esp where there is an underlying ovulatory dysfunction and irregular menses.
Also it is very common to use the contraceptive pill in planning IVF Cycles.
However, the older forms of contraceptives, containing high dose estrogens may be associated with elevated proloctin levels if used for very long time periods and this may either alter ovulatory function or impair fertilisation.
However, it must be stressed that with the more recent low dose pills this is a rather uncommon occurence.
