Our expert says:
Congratulations on acting as a good person should have acted. How the guilty and responsible parties chose to react to their crimes and misdemeanors being discovered, was their choice, as was their choice in the first place to behave so improperly. There should be national honours and medals for all whistle-blowers. The unpleasant consequences occurring are consequencwes of the bad behaviour of the individuals involved, NOT consequences of your good deeds.
Do not resign, and indeed get a good lega opinion, as whoever is now running the company has, I suspect, a duty both to protect you and to prevent you from harm or even ostracism, and to keep you properly employed.
I understand that you feel some degree of moral turmoil --- but never lose sight of the fact that it was bad people who did bad things and chose bad ways of responding to the discovery of their bad deeds. Their deeds harmed other, innocent people, and they apparently did not care about that. Your deeds helped to protect the victims who were innocent and unable to defend themselves or their interests in this matter. The devastation was caused by those who did wrong, not by those who have been bringing them to justice.
It is not "Moralistic" to report or act against crime and wrong-doing --- there is nothing wrong in actually having good morals an acting upon them --- it is a blessed and sadly rare state. And it is NOT "judgemental" --- I hate the way it has become habitual in many ways in our country to condemn as "judgemental" anyone who assesses a situation and finds it to be wrong. To condemn murder, theft, fraud, etc., as wrong is NOT "judgemental" --- the sin of being judgemental and moralistic consists of having a minutely picky and petty sense of what everyone else should do, condemning and complaining about essentially harmless behaviour of others, largely on the grounds that it's not how you would wish things to be.
And as Ja says, consult a good labour lawyer and sue everyone who is making your life in any way unpleasant --- THEY are the ones being judgemental and acting badly still.
