I don't know who recommended that you should not drink any coffee, but as long as you use fat-free milk in the coffee and no sugar, there is not reason why you cannot have about 4 cups a day (the recommended intake for adults). Caffeine has a mild diuretic function and may stimulate metabolism slightly if you don't overdo your intake. Drinking many cups of coffee a day is not a good idea as coffee is s stimulant which can cause tremors, insomnia, palpitations, anxiety, etc
