Clomid and short menstrual cycle

Dear gynaedoc

34 years old, been trying for 1 year, husband''s sperm perfect. On clomid to regulate my cycles to make ovulation more predictable (I ovulated on my own before clomid).

Second round of clomid now over - and once again unsuccessful in conceiving.

My gynae tracked me during my first cycle on clomid, she said I ovulated on either Day 16 or Day 17. But then my period turned up on Day 27 (too early!). Second round, gynae said I would again ovulate on Day 16 or 17, but this time my period turned up on Day 26!

Also, in the week prior to both my periods whilst on clomid, I''ve had abdominal pains similar to menstrual pains, sore and swollen breasts, and also heavier, more painful flow than normal once my period started.

Any advise for me? Is something wrong - because why are my periods turning up so early? Thought clomid was supposed to regulate everything?

Clomid is supposed to ensure ovulation and, if your doctor tracked your cycle, then she would know when this happened. It doesn't matter if your cycle is 26 days or 28 days. The swollen breasts, etc are side effects of Clomid.

Best wishes
