Cat losing his voice

My 3yr old cat has been meow-ing quite strangely for the passed two days, is this normal? He also seems to have lost his voice.
Is that any cause for concern.
Everything else he does is normal, eating, playing.

Has he been neutered? If not he may have ben responding to females calling although this is less likely at this time of year. A mild "throat inflamamtion" can also cause voice loss. If it has not returned by the weekend please have your vet examine him.
