How many calories per day is a good amount for weightloss?

Adult women should ingest 1500 cal per day to lose weight. Remember that you also need to do regular exercise for 30 or more minutes per day (the latest recommendation is 90 min a day), to promote weight loss.

Hi.
Your recommendation is 1500 calories, however my dietician has given me a 1000 cal program. I am currently on a low GI eating plan. What are your thoughts around this program?
