Calcification of placenta

Hi Dr
I am 28 weeks pregnant and praying like mad for a natural birth. Two of my friends jsut gave birth via C-section even though this wasn''t through choice because in both cases they were told thier placenta''s were calcifying.

I really want to avoid this. What causes calcification of the placenta and is there anything I can do to avoid it?

Please help
Thanks

There isn't anything you can do to avoid it. It happens when the placenta 'ages' early. Smoking is one of the causes.

Best wishes
