breathing out loudly whilst sleeping

My husband breathes out very loudly whilst asleep, which sounds forced, ''poof'' . He is very tired during the day and often falls asleep. He sleeps very deeply at night.
He sometimes snores. Can this be sleep apnea?

Thank you

Sleep apnea is one of a group of disorders known collectively as "sleep-disordered breathing". They can all make one tired the next day. What you are describing certainly sounds like one of these. The fact that he is tired during the day is of some concern, because it suggests very strongly that he has one of these.

The daytime sleepiness can be an issue, as it will interfere with mood, memory, and his general functioning.

All of these can be effectively treated, but he needs to have it seen to by someone who has experience in these conditions.
