Blockage

What could be the possible cause of a blockage in your intestines which prevents bowel movement? After trying all sorts of laxatives, a drinking substance which is used before an operation was taken, when on the loo a hard ball almost like a golf ball was passed and then the rest. Now 2 days later, bowel movements are almost normal. Have had no appetite and scared to eat incase this blockage reoccurs. Please advise.

Dear Ck
This can sometimes be caused by medication or certain foods ( high fibre with too little water taken in). Just make sure that you drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. You can use lactulose which is a stool softener but not a laxative once or twice a week to keep the stool soft.
