Big ichy red spots

My husbank has suddenly hit out in a rash on his back, sides and buttocks. It is large, itchy, swollen red humps with a little watery bubble in the middle. He says it burns and itches. We went to the dermatologist who has never seen anything like this in his life. Some was cut out and sent for tests. The tests revealed nothing. Blood tests was taken and only showing a large quantity of Iron in the blood which could indicate Homeocromotosis, inherinted from his Mom. The GP suggested regular blood donations. What could these red humps be?

Dear Rash
Large itchy, swollen, and watery bubble: all seems to point to an allergic reaction.
Certain insect bites ( even mosquitos or fleas ) can cause a bite which will form a blister .
Another rare cause of lesions like this may be bullous pemphigoid but this causes big blisters.
