Big Belly

Hi Doc,

I would like to know when the man has a paunch what actually cause the tummy to swell. What is the content of the big belly is it water or fats, and how can you get rid of it.

Thank you

Dear Rock
Generally it is fat that is deposited between the layers of muscle in the abdomen. If the person is overweight then it is necessary for him to lose weight all round. To lose weight you need to decrease your energy intake by eating a low-fat, high-fibre diet (click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'Slimming Diet' for a copy) and expend more energy by doing regular exercise (join a good gym and start working out ASAP). Ask the gym instructor for a set of targeted exercises (such as sit-ups) which will make the muscles of this abdomen work hard and firm up again.
Good luck

Hi rock,

The answer to your question is simply. The contents of the big tummy are fats, the water does not retain water but fat accumulates.
