Bi Polar?

How can I tell if my friend is really telling the truth that she has been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder? She takes recreational drugs and drinks like a fish while on her medication and seems to use her condition to her advantage and to manipulate people, how can I tell if this is really the truth?

Why do YOu need to know if this is the truth ? No doctor of any sense would give her any medication without having made a proper diagnosis, but if she drugs and drinks along with the medication, she obviously has no desire to get better, and is wasting the money the drugs cost. Why allow her to manipulate you ?

We were in a serious relationship a while back so that is why I'm still concerned. I'm not familiar with prescriprtion drugs thats why I wanted to know if there is anything else I can use as a gauge to tell if she is lying about her diagnosis or not? I respect doctors very much, but what is btw a patient and their doctor is extremely confidential so I don't have any way of telling.
