Our expert says:
I hear what you are saying. The problem with going on different diets for 20 years, is that you may have damaged your metabolism so that it has become more and more difficult for you to lose weight. The one encouraging point you make is that you seem to feel better when you use what is called a 'nibbling diet'. For your own sake I would recommend that you consult a clinical dietitian (visit the Association for Dietetics in SA Website at: www.adsa.org.za and click on "Find a Dietitian" to find a dietitian in your area). The dietitian will have to do a diet history to find out which diet and types of food do not make you feel ill. The dietitian will also recommend if you require medical tests. Once you have found a diet that does not make you feel ill, you can also add daily aerobic exercise (brisk walking, skipping, or joining Walk for Life) for 30 or more minutes to the regimen to promote weightloss.
