ACUTE PANCREATITIS

Can you please tell me how long the convalescing period is for a bad attack of acute pancreatitis in a 72 year old male.

This will depend on how severe the infection/inflammation attack was, how much the pancreas was damaged, if there were any complications and how good his general medical condition was before the episode. It can take up to 6 weeks for the pancreas to heal. 20% of patients get severe pancreatitis and it can be life-threatening in these patients.
