Aartappel vs patat

Watter is die beste om te eet in terme van kilojoule en vet inhoud, aartappel of patat? Wat kan mens als met patat doen wat gesond is en lekker smaak?

Volgens die SA Voedseltabelle bevat 100g gekookte aartappels en 100g gekookte patats sonder skil, onderskeidelik 361 kJ en 439 kJ, en 0,1 g en 0,3 g vet. Patats het dus 'n effens hoër kJ-waarde as aartappels, maar patats het weer 'n laer glisemiese indeks (GI) en bevat meer vesel en vitamiene (veral beta-karoteen). Dus word patats as ryker aan voedingswaarde beskou. Patats wat in hul skille die oond gebak word smaak baie lekker en benodig geen botter of suiker nie. Jy kan patats ook skil, kook en dan fynmaak (soos kapokaartappels) en 'n klein bietjie poli-onversadigde margarien en sout byvoeg vir 'n lekker dis.
