A feline question (just for fun)

Our cats have senses and reflexes vastly superior to our own. Why then is it that when a cat inserts himself under your foot so that you step on him, you end up apologising to him?

Yes, clearly he enjoys the apologies. I do notice that when mine now elcomes me back from the office, he is so eagerly twining himself around my feet, that I have to be enormously careful not to trip over him and shatter my arm again !
