Respiratory infections

When pregnant women get respiratory infections will she cough up thicker mucus than normal? When my 5' friend Annette was pregnant with her son,she told me one time she caught the flu and had a very nasty cough from this flu. She took some cough syrup to quiet her flu cough, but she also told me her flu cough caused her to cough up thicker mucus than normal. Is it common if pregnant women develop respiratory infections, she'll normally cough up thicker mucus than normal? (Happily, too, Annette's baby son was normal. She took Robittussin DM to calm her flu cough during this pregnancy.)

No, I'm not aware that pregnant women cough up thicker sputum.
