Hi Tilda,
Serenace is a trade-name for the drug Haloperidol. This is a useful medication that has been around for some years.  It is used to treat schizophrenia, among other conditions, such as severe anxiety and agitation, Tourette's Syndrome, and others. In Schizophrenia, which you specifically ask about, it can be very helpful.  Your doctor should in any case, advise you about how to use it well, as to doses, timing, side-effects and so on.
