Lingering cough

Can you have a lingering cough after getting over pneumonia? In 2014 my 4'10" friend Joanie caught the flu. But in this scenario Joanie's flu turned to viral pneumonia laying her up for about 8 weeks. But after Joanie got over this viral pneumonia for about 6 months she had a lingering cough. Is it common for pneumonia victims to suffer lingering coughs after getting over pneumonia?

Yes, there can be a lingering cough for 6 to 8 weeks after pneumonia.  This is due to hypersensitive and healing airways.
