Dr Heidi van Deventer completed her MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree in 2004 at the University of Stellenbosch.
She practised as a GP in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town from 2007 to 2011, after completing her internship at Pelonomi and Universitas Hospitals in Bloemfontein and community service at Wingfield Naval Base and 2 Military Hospital.
She has additional training in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Paediatric Advanced Life Support) as well as biostatistics and epidemiology.
Dr Van Deventer is currently working as a researcher at the Desmond Tutu Tuberculosis Centre, which forms part of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Stellenbosch.
