The signs of Ebola

By now it’s likely you’ve heard of the Ebola outbreak that’s currently ravaging several countries in west Africa. Almost 700 people have died so far, making it the worst outbreak ever by some margin.

Officials believe that it is unlikely the outbreak will spread to South Africa, but with so much travel going on across Africa it’s best to be aware of what the warning signs are.

Essentially, in its early stages Ebola presents as any other infection, the most common symptoms are:

Cough
Fever
Headache
Nausea
Dizziness

While this might sound like the flu, these symptoms can rapidly develop into severe bleeding and other health problems. The death rate is up to 90% of the infected.
