Know your migraine triggers!

A migraine can totally ruin your day and once they kick in they can be hard to shift. In this case prevention is MUCH better than cure.

People suffer migraines for a number of reasons, but it’s likely that the same triggers will keep causing your problems time after time. Here are three of the most common things to look out for.

1.    Not having your regular cups of coffee and tea
If your morning routine includes a cup of tea, keep it that way. Your body can become adjusted to the daily dose of caffeine and suddenly stopping can throw your body out of whack.

2.    Eating certain foods.
There a range of foods that are associated with migraine onset such as cheese, chocolate, soya sauce, yeast extracts, pickled herrings and certain citrus fruits. Anything containing MSG could also put you at risk. Fortunately you’re likely to only be sensitive to one or two of these foods, not the whole bunch.

3.    Drinking red wine and sometimes too much coffee.
Another case of your body just falling out of balance. Red wine has many more histamines than white wine, which is why it gives you a worse hangover. These compounds can also conspire to give you a crushing migraine, the same goes for coffee.
