Friday's weather: Rain and thunderstorms expected in most provinces

Scattered to isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit most provinces across the country, according to the South African Weather Service.

Mpumalanga will be cloudy in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions are forecast with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the south-east.

Morning fog is expected in the Lowveld and in the extreme west.

The Northern Cape will have morning fog along the coast, otherwise fine and warm to hot temperatures are forecast, but it will be cool in the south-east where it will be cloudy at first.

It will be windy in the southern part.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh south-easterly.

Morning fog is expected in places along the coast of the Western Cape, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain along the south coast, but cloudy over the south-eastern parts.

It will be fine in the north-west.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly but strong along the south-west coast.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will have morning fog in the north-west, otherwise cloudy and cool conditions with isolated to scattered showers and rain south of the escarpment are forecast.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate south-westerly becoming a light south-easterly in the afternoon.
