The Energy Intensive Users Group (EIUG) has welcomed the passing of the Electricity Regulation Amendment Bill, which brings to effect Eskom's unbundling into three entities and paves the way for other generators to enter the electricity supply industry.
The grouping, which represents the largest consumers of electricity, said the bill brings certainty to the industry in which companies have had to invest in the generation of electricity to supplement Eskom supply.
"We look forward to the president signing this bill into law," said Fanele Mondi, spokesperson for the EUIG on Saturday.
