An intricate network of nerve cells simultaneously carries thousands of messages to and from the brain. Each lane consists of a string of single nerve cells and messages are seamlessly transmitted at a fantastic speed from cell to cell. The purple lanes conduct impulses from the brain to the rest of the body. The green lanes conduct impulses between different parts of the brain. The pink lanes enable the left and right brain to communicate.
