ALIVE AND WELL
We’re thrilled to introduce our new YOU "baby" – a brand new health magazine that will appear quarterly and hopefully become as firm a favourite as YOU has been over the years.
Why a separate health magazine if YOU regularly reports on health issues? Well, because health – your own and that of your family – is so important that a stand-alone magazine dealing with all aspects of it is a real bonus. What’s more, it’s the first of its kind in South Africa.
At YOU Pulse we’ve enlisted the help of some of the country’s foremost specialists as contributors and consultants to ensure every article is 100 per cent accurate. We’ve made just as much of an effort to let the magazine speak to you in everyday English. After all, ordinary folk like us don’t feel like wading through a medical textbook!
In every issue we cover different aspects of health – medical breakthroughs, emotional wellbeing, lifestyle issues such as diet and fitness, alternative health and diseases we want to know more about (from the symptoms to the latest research).
Our goal is to help you and your family lead healthier lives and prevent illnesses. We also want to sound the alarm in time should there be any threat to the wellbeing of you and your family.
This issue contains two important exposés: the danger lurking in new drug-releasing coronary stents, plus information about the deadly trans fats found in some margarines and other foods we often eat. It’s made me look at commercial cookies quite differently!
YOU Pulse is a unique joint venture with Health24, the biggest health website in the country. The managing director of Health24, Dr. Danie Pauw, and his team worked closely with us on the research and writing of the articles and are also doing great things on the website to give you even more interactive information on every topic we’ve covered.
We hope you enjoy this first issue – let us know what you think!
