It’s been 16 years since Victoria Beckham launched her fashion line and she's thrilled that it's finally profitable.

“Now we can start building the [fashion] house that I always dreamed of,” she says.

The former Spice Girl launched her autumn/winter ’24 fashion line of her self-titled brand at Paris Fashion Week at the weekend.

She found inspiration for this collection going back to her roots and celebrating the silhouette.

“I found myself thinking of the wardrobe as a source of inspiration in a more literal sense."

The draping in one of the dresses was inspired by sheets drying on a washing line while wire clothes hangers inspired the twisted hardware.

With a keen eye for fashion and more than a decade of industry experience, Victoria (49) loves being a designer.

“I love the fact that I can create clothes I desire and want to wear myself. I’ve always been a real girl’s girl.

“All of my friends are women. I love interacting with the community and creating what women want to wear.”

Models on the runway didn't only wear her designs, they also wore makeup from the Victoria Beckham Beauty line.

“We are reimagining eyeshadow and the placement of colour to make it modern. There is strength in that placement, which almost squares out the eyelid and gives a strong gaze,” says lead makeup artist Fara Homidi.

The fashion show was interrupted by activists protesting against Victoria’s use of leather, urging her to use vegan leather instead.

Members of the animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) walked alongside the runway in T-shirts which read, “Turn your back on animal skins”, “Animals aren’t fabric” and “Viva vegan leather".

“No garment is worth slaughtering and skinning a sensitive animal. @victoriabeckham, wanna be the champion of vegan leather instead?” PETA tweeted.

Unfazed by the protest, Victoria appeared on the runway for her post-show bow, accessorised with crutches, a walking boot on one foot and a pointed stiletto heel on the other.

“The crutches are very empowering. I’m just being positive, it’s a good arm workout,” she told Elle Magazine. She injured her foot in a "little accident in the gym," her husband, David Beckham, posted on Instagram last week.

David, along with children Harper, Cruz and Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham were there to support Victoria. Romeo Beckham was absent from the group.

“Always there to support me, I love you all so much,” Victoria posted on Instagram after the show.

David kissed his wife when she took a bow and later shared an image of her on Instagram.

“I’m so proud of you for many reasons but this season threw a lot at you and again you just did what you do best. We love you, Victoria.”

Backstage, Harper and Nicola lip-synced to a TikTok video and Cruz checked out everyone's outfits.

“So proud of you @victoriabeckham. Little fit check with my fam,” he wrote.

With the launch wrapped up, Victoria is excited about the future of her brand.

“Now that I have laid the foundations, the serious things begin. I want the business to develop while remaining authentic – whether it’s fashion, beauty or perfumes,” she says.

“There are so many things I want to do. I would like to emphasise, as humbly as possible, that I have a lot of ambition. Creating a big fashion house is my dream.”
