There is a joke among psychologists: Question: What is the definition of a dysfunctional family? Answer: one with more than two members. So, if you feel your family doesn't always make the grade, know that you've got lots of company. Families are made up of people, and people are never perfect. Neither are you. Scary thought, but a true one. Some families can be great, others mildly irritating and a few of them truly toxic. But fortunately the toxic ones are in the minority.
