Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis visited the head offices of Sea Harvest in Cape Town on Monday to offer their condolences and support to the families and colleagues of 11 employees presumed drowned at sea.
They went missing after their fishing vessel, MFV Lepanto, sank 34 nautical miles (nearly 63km) off the coast of Hout Bay on Friday.
The search for the fishermen was called off due to the time that had elapsed since the boat sank. Their bodies are yet to be recovered.
