Freedom Day is a time to celebrate South Africa's liberation from apartheid, marking the historic 1994 elections and the introduction of a new Constitution.

Henry Nxumalo was a fearless journalist whose legacy was built on unearthing the atrocities of apartheid and writing stories that reflected society's realities in pursuit of freedom. To celebrate the life and legacy of the seminal Drum magazine journalist, the Dr Alfred Bitini Xuma Museum in Sophiatown, Johannesburg, is hosting an exhibition.

Museum manager Jacob Lebeko says Nxumalo's stories were published in Drum to expose how black people were treated by the apartheid government.
