Convicted murderer Donovan Moodley's claims of a threat against his life in Leeuwkop Prison have been rejected by the Department of Correctional Services - who pointed out the inmate Moodley alleges attacked him was not even in the prison at the time.
In court papers seen by News24, Moodley, who is serving a life sentence for the 2004 kidnapping and murder of Leigh Matthews, asked the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg to transfer him to the Johannesburg Correctional Centre, also known as Sun City.
In his founding affidavit, filed last week, Moodley claimed an inmate, whose name is known to News24, had been transferred to Leeuwkop to assassinate him.
