About half the Viagra sold on the Internet could be fake, according to University of London researchers.
The scientists used near infrared (NIR) microscopy to check the ingredients of various samples of Viagra that were purchased online. They found that about half the pills were counterfeit, the Scotsman reported.

The fake pills contained different ingredients than authentic Viagra.
"We don't know that 'wrong' components will be harmful, but the user runs the risk of poor quality and possible toxicity, not to mention the fact that there is a high probability that the tablets may have no clinical effect," researcher Dr Nic Wilson told the Scotsman.
Viagra is widely available over the Internet. The University of London researchers bought their Viagra samples from websites that didn't have mailing addresses and didn't provide information about the source of the drug. – (HealthDayNews)
